To Lent and More Normalcy

Spring has arrived. Evidently, Punxsutawney Phil, Pennsylvania groundhog of weather prediction fame, predicted more winter...but that was back in February. So, I guess we have used that all up, and the signs are all around us: snow melted, ponds are no longer iced over, and we are venturing outside without coats more and more often.

Along with spring comes the season for Lent. The Orthodox celebration falls several weeks later than the Western Easter this year. So, before I forget, greetings in the resurrection of our Lord to all those who celebrated today! Christ took on human flesh, joined in our suffering, died, and then raised "human-ness" to something more than it was before, because now human nature is joined to God himself, in the person of Jesus Christ. May this be a blessed Easter.

I have an eclectic collection of photos from the past month. Being Lent, recipes we have not seen in a while are appearing on the table, so I hope you understand a few food shots. Two of my classmates were ordained in the past month, which is exciting, but less exciting is losing a much beloved professor to retirement.

Metropolitan Tikhon joins us for 1st Week of Lent

With COVID quarantines and not having a normal choir in the loft at church all these months, this is the first time, in exactly one year, to the day, that the water pitchers were filled back up and put back in action. Just one little sign that we are slowly returning to some state of normalcy. This may be a small thing, but this is one small indicator to me that we are heading back toward normal life again.

Signs of Reopening: the choir returns

If you would like to see a few more photos, including a few shots of the kids, I posted some online.
